Socio-economic study of Ebiil MPA
Objectives
To examine marine resource dependency for household consumption and income;
To determine the perceived management effectiveness of the Ebiil MPA by examining (a) awareness and perception of Ebiil MPA status and purpose, perception of positive and negative changes related to the closure,
awareness and perception of current enforcement and laws of the Ebiil MPA, and level of support for Ebiil MPA and additional legislated MPAs in Ngarchelong; To examine the greatest perceived threat(s) to the Ebiil MPA and suggested solutions; To determine awareness of biological and social monitoring results; To explore the possibility of tourism development and management in the Ebiil MPA and related financial benefits.
