Reef Conservation UK (RCUK) is returning for the 22nd Annual Conference at the Zoological Society of London on Saturday 14 December 2019.

Abstract submission is now open, with a deadline of 6 September 2019 here.

RCUK promotes multidisciplinary conservation, public awareness and education about coral reefs, as well as a platform for reef enthusiasts of all backgrounds and career levels to share their work. Submissions are welcome on all aspects of science, management, policy, or culture associated with reefs or adjacent ecosystems. Contributions are encouraged from all career levels and backgrounds, including: university lecturers and students, aquarists, field conservation workers, government staff, consultants, and those involved with ecotourism or benefiting from reef ecosystem services.

Presentations will take the following forms:

  • Oral presentations (12 minutes followed by questions)
  • Lightning talks with accompanying poster (3 minutes with no questions)
  • Posters

Given the high number of abstract submissions received in past years, this year RCUK have introduced lighting talks combined with a poster. Lighting talks are intended to give presenters an opportunity to share key findings from their work in 3 minutes (with no more than a few slides), and then encourage conference attendees to visit them at their poster to find out more and ask questions. Poster presentations will form a key component of the day, with several opportunities to browse and discuss the research with the authors.

Abstracts will be reviewed blind – removing author names and institutions. All abstracts will be considered for the requested presentation type, but due to time constraints, only a limited number of talks can be accepted. The highest scored abstracts will prioritized for full talks (12 minute duration), followed by lighting talks (3 minute duration) with accompanying poster, and then poster presentations. All accepted abstracts will be made electronically available on the RCUK website.

Please submit your abstract here by 6 September 2019.
