34th ICRI General Meeting

The 34th ICRI General Meeting will be held in Townsville, Australia, from 2-7 December 2019.

The tentative agenda for the meeting is as follows:

  • Day 1 (Monday December 2) - Visit to the Australian Institute of Marine Science (Townsville)
  • Day 2 (Tuesday December 3) - Reef Resilience Workshop (Townsville)
  • Day 3 (Wednesday December 4) - General Meeting (Townsville)
  • Day 4 (Thursday December 5) - General Meeting (Townsville)
  • Day 5 (Friday December 6) - Travel by bus (to Port Douglas)
  • Day 6 (Saturday December 7) - Visit to the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. A field visit to the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park is planned for Saturday 7 December, departing from Port Douglas. Further details will be provided on participation in this field trip in coming months.

Key Dates:

  • 2 August – Registration opens with initial draft of the agenda
  • 30 September – Registration deadline for field visit
  • 2 November – deadline to submit the member report
  • 2 November – Registration deadline
  • 2 November – Registration deadline for submitting ‘motions’
  • mid November – Final agenda posted
  • 2 December – Meeting commences

Climate: Townsville is in the dry tropics region and enjoys over 300 days of sunshine per year. December is the warmest month of the year with average maximum temperature of 31 degrees and average minimum of 24 degrees. Townsville is susceptible to tropical cyclones.

The meeting will be held at Mercure Hotel Townsville.
